Daisy Update

Thanks so much!! Here are some updated photos of Daisy.

She has been an absolute joy! She is so smart. We have taught her a few basic parlor tricks ("Bang" = roll on her back with legs up, playing dead), and when we tell her to find the kids by name, she will do it. Daisy has also impressed us by bringing items to different members of the family by name.

Mostly, Daisy absolutely loves to go fishing! We take her at least once or twice a week and she has just started swimming in the past two weeks. She likes to go for bike rides and running but could live without the dog park. She's a great traveler who loves car rides. We drove up to Lake Tahoe and she had the best time chasing squirrels!
Here are Daisy's idiosyncrasies: since she was tiny, Daisy has liked to pick up objects and pocket them in her mouth. She doesn't eat them, she just keeps them in her cheeks for later.. For example, we were running a few months ago and I thought I saw her pick something up off of the sidewalk. She wasn't chewing anything, so we kept our pace. A few blocks later, she drops an OLIVE out of her mouth. In April, Daisy had been in the back yard and scratched to come inside. She looked very proud of herself and I could see something hanging out of her mouth. I told her to "drop it" and she looked down, then up at me, then dropped a baby bird out of her mouth on the floor.. I picked it up, saw that it was no longer alive and got rid of it. When I returned, she was avoiding eye contact with me and walking in circles, a tell tale sign that she's up to something. Her tail was wagging and I asked her "What is it?" She sat, looked at me and dropped ANOTHER baby bird out of her mouth and started jumping around, thrilled with herself!! That's right, she had pocketed not one, but TWO baby birds in her cheeks! This is just quintessential Daisy!
Daisy is the sweetest dog. We have gotten so many compliments on her beauty and her demeanor! Our vet and her staff keep telling us how wonderful and calm she is, especially for a pointer! We know that we love her very much and love how affectionate, loyal, smart and sweet she is! Thank you, thank you so much for our precious baby girl!!

Thanks for the update!

Lilli Update

Here is an update on 9 month old Lilli.
She has outgrown most of her bad puppy habits, but can't be trusted with certain potted plants. She is very smart and has learned secret cat powers as well. She holds the cats down with her paws and thumps them until they tell her how to acquire some of their cat powers. As a result, she can appear and disappear so fast you aren't sure where she is. She can camouflage herself into a dark brown or green couch so you have to look twice to see her eyes and collar.

She will get into the pool, but perhaps due to falling in when she was little, hasn't realized the recreational benefits of swimming yet. She loves running in the park and playing with her toys. To this end she is very smart and knows the names of her main toys. If she leaves one in the back yard, you can say: "Lilli, fetch weasel!" and she will go get it and bring it in the house. She has also learned important "dog" things from her Aunt Gretchen, and assists Gretchen in guarding the house and yard. She has also learned to eat her Hundekuchen (dog cookie) in a more refined manner.

She has a very sweet personality, and even when she is bad (like emptying the bathroom wastebasket and leaving chewed items in the living room, it's hard to stay angry. Despite verging on 50 pounds, Lilli still wants to be held in your lap, even if it isn't very comfortable for either one. It would be hard to find a more loving and affectionate puppy. Thanks to Piper and Ruger, she also gets many compliments on her looks.

She is dearly loved here.

We are so glad and love getting the updates! Thanks!

Parker Update

Look at this gorgeous boy! He looks just like his Daddy.

This is an update from Parker's(black male) family
Hi,
I just wanted to send you a couple pics of Parker. He is the best. In fact my parents are so happy with him that they would like you to let us know when you have another litter. They had to put their 12 year old female down a week ago and are going to be looking for a new puppy. Parker is so well mannered and smart that they would love to have one from the same line. If you could please let me know I would appreciate it.

*There may be a litter this summer. I'll keep you posted. If you have questions about upcoming litters or anything else please email me nicolehunt@email.wintu.edu
Sorry, but I normally do not keep up with the comments on this blog.

Thanks for the update, and please keep them coming.

Puppy Update!

An update on Lilli (Pink).
This is from January 14th.
She weighed in at 16.5 pounds this morning. It seems like she is doubling in size by the week. The day before yesterday, she learned how to go down the stairs. Then last night she learned how to go up...sigh...she's everywhere. She is pretty well housebroken, but each time we brag about it a slight accident occurs. She is being accepted more by the cats, and Gretchen, the German Shepherd, has taken to her and even defended her from an aggressive Sergei, our Russian Blue, who is head cat. He smacked her the other day to enforce his status on Lilli, Gretchen jumped up and smacked him back with her paw. She doesn't like Lilli biting her face and pawing her head, but has become more active with the puppy. Lilli has a very sweet personality and is a loving puppy, although it won't be long before she's too big to snuggle in the lap. She's crate trained and goes in on her own when it's bed time. Despite all her toys, she still likes to do unauthorized things and has eaten who knows how many twigs and leaves before we can stop her, not to mention a couple of mums and palms branches and the like. She knows the "sit" command and is starting to come when called. She also knows some things not to do and is sneaky about doing them anyway. We love her and she's a part of our family.
